A Malaysian law firm built for cross-border work
About
Aqran & Partners is a Malaysian law firm built for cross-border work.
We advise foreign companies investing in, trading with or operating in Malaysia, and Malaysian companies whose business takes them abroad.
We founded the firm in December 2023 with a simple conviction: cross-border matters are best handled by a small, senior team that makes decisions quickly and stays with the matter from the first call to the final document. Our senior lawyers trained at large law firms in Germany, Korea and Malaysia. We kept the standards and left behind the layers. Our conflict checks take hours, not days and the senior lawyer you speak to is the one who does the work.

Malaysian law and EU law under one roof
We work in English, French, German, Italian, Korean and Malay but irrespective of the language, there is one communality: whichever language we speak with you, one thing doesn’t change: we tell you plainly where you stand and what to do next.
Raja Nadhil Aqran
The firm is led by Raja Nadhil Aqran, Managing Partner and Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya, worked at one of Malaysia’s most prominent firms for many years before co-founding the firm.
Dr. Harald Sippel
Our Senior Foreign Advisor, Dr. Harald Sippel, is an Austrian Rechtsanwalt who also maintains his own law practice in Vienna, Austria, and the only EU-admitted lawyer at a Malaysian law firm.
So, EU regulation, from EUDR and CBAM to NIS2 and supply chain due diligence, is advised on here, alongside the Malaysian law it interacts with.
Who we act for
Malaysian companies, including government-linked and listed companies, and medium-sized and large foreign companies doing business in or with Malaysia.
Since founding, our clients have come from 13 countries.
Working with referring lawyers
Many of our mandates come from foreign law firms whose clients need Malaysian counsel. We work alongside your relationship, not around it. We report in a form you can pass on, we coordinate with you on strategy and your client’s timetable, and when the Malaysian part of the matter is done, the client remains yours.
We are the Malaysian partner firm in two international law-firm networks: ADWA (Alliance of German Business Lawyers in Asia) and CBBL, and, through our networks and partner firms, independent counsel in around 70 countries. We also act as the Local Coordinator for Malaysia of the International Business Community (IBC).
